Floor Treatment Options
Engineered & Pre-finished
Although Historic Floor is known for our reputation with custom, job-finished hardwood flooring, engineered and pre-finished flooring may be advised when speed to completion and the dust of a job-finished floor is not a viable option. Pre-finished and engineered are best for a uniform look or when below grade (basement) installation is required.
We are St. Louis' largest independent dealer in Preverco brand pre-finished and engineered flooring. We consider Preverco the best in this category since they incorporate 11 coats of aluminum oxide finish, known as their Sigma finish system.
We offer this brand in an exclusive satin-matte (low sheen), wide plank (5") flooring in ten species and stain colors. Please contact us for more details. Additionally, we can perform job finish on engineered oak, pine or Brazilian cherry.
SIGMA™ provides unmatched hardness and durability, as well as:
- » Extremely high wear resistance
- » Outstanding hardness
- » Superior durability to withstand everyday household use
Superb UV protection
With the latest breakthroughs in UV protective resins, SIGMA™ provides far better UV resistance than conventional finishes.
Effective antibacterial protection
Ultra-Fresh* treatment, backed by proven science, prevents bacteria from multiplying, provides mildew protection, and wards off bacterial odors. *Ultra-Fresh is a trademark of Thomson Research Associates, Toronto, Canada.
Extraordinary smoothness
Discover the smoothest hardwood floor on the market. The SIGMA™ finishing process uses multiple coats of polymer, which are successively hardened, then microsanded for a finish as smooth as silk.
Wood is a natural flooring material that inherently contains distinctive differences in grain and color configurations. These subtle differences that occur in nature create the beauty, warmth and individuality of each Historic™ floor. The room scenes and photography on this site are intended as a visual guide, as your Historic™ floor may vary in actual color or grain pattern.
